GENERAL SUMMARY:
· Henry Ford Health System (HFHS) Nurse Residency Program is designed to assist the novice nurse transitioning from entry-level advanced beginner to competent professional nurse.
· The twelve month program will be facilitated by academic and clinical faculty/preceptors engaged in the progressive development of critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills.
· The Nurse Residency program supports the novice nurse in the delivery of safe, quality care within a collaborative interprofessional healthcare team environment.
· Additional support will be provided to the nurse residents in the form of peer groups, competency reviews and workshops.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with less than six (6) months of experience in a related area of nursing practice.
· Successfully passes NCLEX-RN and holds an active, unrestricted license within 60 days of hire. If unsuccessful, the Nurse Resident will be eligible to apply for a Nursing Assistant position until RN license is obtained.
· BLS Health care provider certification preferred. Successfully completes within orientation.
· Sign a statement of commitment.
