Job Description

The Transportation Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking Mid-Level Project Engineer for work on the Frederick Douglas Tunnel Project. The candidate will report to the teams Construction Manager. The selected candidate would be currently responsible for various office assignments. Duties may transition slightly as the project moves from the planning/design review phase into the construction phase.

Duties would include, but are not limited to:

Submittal Management and Review

Ensure that submittals meet the specification requirements

Review and process Contractor Invoices

Assemble Invoices and all documentation to be sent on to Amtrak for payment

Review and verify that Inspectors reports are completed properly and promptly

Scheduling of Inspections with subconsultants and/or 3rd party labs

Use MS Office, scheduling programs, construction applications to complete tasks


Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related field from an accredited University plus eight (8) years of related experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

U.S. Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work

Valid Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review

Preferred Qualifications:

5 Years of Construction Inspection experience

Experience working on Rail, Transit, or Tunnel construction projects

Construction Manager – in- Training (CMIT)

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

MS Office, scheduling programs, construction applications

Must be willing to travel to sites to do site visits and meet with construction teams

Additional Information

Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position

Relocation experience is not available for this position


Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $110,000.00 – $140,000.00.
