MPLX L&S Accounting records costs and revenue, prepares financial statements for operated joint ventures, engages with the business through financial reports, maintains accounting records for SEC and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) reporting, among other responsibilities.

MPLX L&S Accounting is looking for a Senior Accountant to support the end-to-end accounting and reporting processes for FERC filings entities. This position will lead the applicable accounting processes and preparation of financial reports. This position collaborates with those inside and outside accounting to ensure the integrity of financial statements. We are looking for someone with strong analytical skills, proven leadership skills, and someone who works well in a collaborative environment.


Prepares journal entries and maintains general ledger for regulatory reporting in accordance with the Uniform System of Accounts (USoA) , Interstate Commerce Act, and emerging issues in FERC regulations

Prepares quarterly and annual regulatory reports by statutory deadlines. Reports include:

Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement, Statement of Retained Earnings and supporting schedules

Volumetric reports

Coordinates and leads the quarterly and annual regulatory reporting process for Form 6Q and Form 6 reports

Trains accountants responsible for preparing quarterly and annual regulatory reports

Manage the regulatory accounting controls including their execution, periodic review and suggestions for improvement

Provide regulatory requirements accounting advice to management and peers to assist them in managing their financial responsibilities

Collects, compiles, analyzes, and verifies financial data to ensure the integrity of accounting records, and investigates and resolves discrepancies

Review accounting transactions and journal entries recorded in the accounting systems

Identify and implement improvements to the FERC reporting process

Lead/participate in special projects as assigned


Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required

3 years accounting or related experience

Experience within FERC reporting preferred but not required

CPA preferred but not required


Strong communication, and analytical skills required

Strong proficiency in Excel and SAP preferred

Working knowledge of financial reporting and financial accounting statements

Highly motivated and team-oriented

Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a changing, fast paced environment

Strong desire to lead and take ownership of new processes and information
