Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in a natural or physical science, food science/nutrition, environmental health, environmental studies, geography, or related field and 1 year of job-related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the position.

High school diploma or GED plus five (5) years of the specified experience will meet the education and experience requirements.

An Associate’s degree in a specified filed plus three (3) years of the specified experience will meet the education and experience requirements.

A Master’s degree or higher in a specified field will meet the education and experience.

One (1) or more years of experience conducting one (1) or more of the following activities in the environmental, health, and safety field: compliance inspections, assisting in or coordinating outreach events or marketing campaigns, developing training, assisting in food safety program management and/or stormwater program management.

Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local environmental compliance and/or food safety regulations.

Skill in developing and delivering training presentations using software or web-based tools.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Proficient in MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and desktop publishing software.

Ability to interact with people and make public presentations.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree from an accredited university.

40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER training.

Registered Sanitarian.

Experience with website development, marketing and/or social media content creation.

Experience conducting compliance inspections in the environmental and/or food safety field(s).

Ability to review plans and specifications for compliance with environmental rules, regulations, and practices.

Job Description

Responsible for assisting in the management of environmental, health and safety programs at Texas State University. . The primary responsibility will be to provide support for environmental compliance programs, including stormwater and food safety.

Job Duties

Plan, coordinate, and participate in outreach events to support MS4 Stormwater Permit goals.

Develop, implement, and maintain education and outreach campaigns to support Environmental Division programs.

Review applications, issue permits, and conduct inspections of Temporary Food Establishments and Mobile Food Units to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and University policy.

Support environmental programs by conducting inspections, performing data entry, and reviewing construction plans for compliance with environmental regulations.

Assist in developing content and maintaining the environmental program webpages.

Develops, reviews, and conducts on-line and in-person training presentations and evaluates training programs to align with program goals for the MS4 and Food Safety programs.

Assist in developing interdepartmental and external partnerships to promote Environmental Division goals.

Provide technical assistance/customer service to campus community for environmental and food safety programs.

Participate as a member of the spill response team upon completion of specialized training.

Additional Information to Applicants

Work involves various degrees of hazard and may include prolonged work in outdoor conditions.

May respond to emergencies on campus during the day or after-hours. Will carry after hours phone on a rotating basis.

May require occasional work outside of normal working hours.

Work may require lifting up to 50 pounds.
