Student Worker/Fundraising – Childrens Hospital Foundation


UPMC Children’s Hospital Foundation student program offers the opportunity to gain an understanding, over the course of approximately 12 weeks, of the various functions of a robust fundraising and development workplace including donor prospecting and retention strategies, events planning, non-profit writing, patient family coordination, and donor stewardship among others. Students will work on a specific project or projects, while also being exposed to the various departments within the Foundation and their responsibilities. Our program offers a steppingstone into the world of nonprofit fundraising and provides critical hands-on training and experience for students who seek to enter the field, helping to develop the next generation of development and nonprofit professionals.

High School Diploma or GED required. Open to students who have completed 2 years of college courses in applicable fields or greater, or who have comparable work or school experience.

Strong verbal, written, interpersonal and problem-solving skills and the ability to work with many different constituencies such as donors, volunteers, trustees and staff.

Ability to present a professional image of the hospital and articulate mission and values of the hospital.

High level of enthusiasm, initiative, motivation.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.

Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

Act 33 with renewal

Act 34 with renewal

Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
