Position SummaryCVS Health is seeking an experienced Senior Indirect Tax Analyst to join our team! The Senior Indirect Tax Analyst will have proven ability to navigate and collaborate with multiple stakeholders in a large and complex organization and join efforts in driving change.

As a Senior Indirect Tax Analyst, you will report to the Manager, Indirect Tax. Your primary responsibilities include working with internal and external partners to ensure all indirect tax compliance, audit, and accounting obligations are completed. Success in this role will require a passion for identifying and driving process improvements, enthusiasm for leading change, and a low tolerance for the status quo.

Partner with a team of tax professionals to consistently deliver all indirect tax obligations in a timely manner. Prepare, review, and analyze sales, use, and property tax compliance data, continuously improve processes, and integrate automation to improve the end-to-end compliance process and reliability of results.

Work directly with 3rd party consultants and internal parties to resolve indirect tax related issues, including but not limited to notices and business license matters.

Interact with state and local auditors in managing sales and use tax audits; obtain and provide auditors with requested documentation, review audit workpapers, document results, and implement solutions to reduce future exposure for identified exceptions.

Prepare month end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations for indirect tax accounts.

Research, analyze, and communicate the impact of sales and use tax law developments.

Monitor and evaluate business activities for filing responsibilities and nexus exposure to mitigate indirect tax deficiencies.

Provide support to the item file team. Review, research, understand, and determine the taxability of the goods and services being sold and purchased in a timely and accurate manner.

Ensure efficient operation of indirect tax processes through consistent communication with the tax technology team and participating in automation integration.

Assist with special projects and perform other duties and responsibilities as requested.

Required Qualifications

2 years of tax or finance experience (public or private)

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of recent experience in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, results-oriented tax department or similar work environment.

Minimum 3 years of indirect tax compliance experience.

Minimum 3 years of audit experience.

Experience with process automation, improvements, and standardization, ensuring enhanced controls, and delivering timely, high-quality results.

Analytical skills with specific subject matter expertise and tax research skills, including a deep understanding of US retail and healthcare sales taxability concepts.

Ability to communicate clearly, accurately, and tactfully, both verbally and in writing, successfully translating always-complex tax rules for business partners and customers.

Ability to work productively with a high degree of independence and with accuracy and high attention to detail, while knowing when to seek guidance or assistance.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Ariba, Servicechannel, Tririga, and PowerBI

Experience with SAP S/4 and Fiori

Experience with Thomson Reuters OneSource Tax Determination and Vertex

Ability and initiative to learn new systems required to perform job responsibilities


Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$43,700.00 – $107,200.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
