Maxim Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Coronary Care Registered Nurse to coordinate the delivery of nursing care for critically ill, post operative, ventilator, post cardiac arrest, post heart cath, hemodynamic stabilization and other critically ill patients in the units. The Registered Nurse responds to code and emergent situations as a team member within the hospital. The Registered Nurse participates in patient and family teaching, provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards of professional nursing practice in the intensive care/coronary care setting.
Responsibilities:
Handles multiple priorities, utilizing independent discretion/decision-making skills
Manages stress, anger, fear, and hostility appropriately
Works in close proximity to others or in a distracting environment
Works effectively both independently as well as with others
Makes decisions under pressure
Performs admission assessment within the shift or in accordance with specific unit standards
Plan of care includes nursing diagnosis statement for each identified problem
Demonstrates knowledge of hospital policies and procedures for administering transcribing and recording medications
Evaluates the identified problems, care provided, and patient’s responses are reassessed in order to meet patient and family needs to assure overall quality of care delivered
Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the health care team, in order to assure quality care
Practices within legal boundaries of nurse practice act and according to Hospital policy and procedures
Properly demonstrates the ability to care for a patient with hemodynamic monitoring including insertion, monitoring, interpretation, and care of the catheter
Demonstrates the ability to care for the patient with continuous cardiac monitoring including rhythm identification, interpretation and follow through with the appropriate intervention
Demonstrates the ability to care for a ventilated patient
Demonstrates the ability to care for a patient with ICP monitoring including monitoring, interpretation, and follow through with appropriate intervention.
Demonstrates the ability to care for a patient with a temporary pacemaker including insertion, monitoring interpretation of rhythm and care of the catheter.
Demonstrates the ability to care for the patient receiving thrombolytic protocol
Demonstrates knowledge of techniques, procedures and correct use of protective barrier equipment.
Assures a safe environment by instituting appropriate control measure to include hand washing
Complies with all Evidence Based Measures (core measures/SCIP/Stroke/Heart and others) and educates others
Demonstrates a willingness to identify and/or assume activities relative to the developmental needs of the unit and the nursing department
Demonstrates dependability/flexibility in meeting schedule needs of the unit and hospital
Accepts assignments as preceptor for new staff
Attends all required safety training program and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, specific job related
Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the Critical Care Division as defined in the scope of service to ensure that the unique nature of the client id addressed
Responsibly follows the hospital exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens
Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure. Pursues professional growth and development
Assesses and diagnoses patient and family needs in order to provide quality care to assigned patients
Develops, discusses and communicates a realistic problem list (plan of care) for each patient, in collaboration with each patient/family/significant other in order to address all identified needs
Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing interventions and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient
Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge and skills
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Current state registration or eligibility to do so
Current BCLS/CPR certification
Current TB/PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health Certificate
ACLS: RNs with more than 1 year experience should obtain certification within 6 months of employment
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills required, proficiency in the English language may be required.
Computer proficiency required
