Position Summary

As a Corporate Operations Cyber Security Intern, you will play a critical role in supporting our organizations cybersecurity efforts. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of cybersecurity while contributing to the protection of our digital assets and operations. This Corporate Operations Cyber Security Intern role will provide you with valuable exposure to real-world cybersecurity challenges and is an excellent opportunity to kick-start your career in this exciting and rapidly evolving field.

As an IT Intern you will be working at our corporate campus in Glenview, IL; one of Chicago’s northern suburbs. Our campus includes a fitness center at no cost to the employees, cafeteria, outdoor volleyball courts, walking trails around the campus, employee resource groups, corporate discounts, dry cleaning services, covered/outdoor parking, and much more. We are one block walk to the nearest Metra station, and it is a quick 20-minute train ride to downtown Chicago, museums, lakefront, and activities .

What You Will Do

Risk Assessment: Participate in risk assessments to identify potential security risks and vulnerabilities and provide recommendations for mitigation.

Assist in validating and updating user and group data in the Active Directory, ensuring that it aligns with current employee information.

Monitoring and Analysis: Assist in monitoring network traffic and system logs to identify and analyze potential security threats and vulnerabilities.

Research and Development: Stay up to date with emerging cybersecurity threats and trends and contribute to the development of security solutions and strategies.

Utilize security tools to identify, research and remediate vulnerabilities.

What We Are Looking For

Currently enrolled in an Undergraduate Degree Program with a focus on Information Technology, Informatics, or Business. Junior status preferred.

Maintenance of a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA is required.

Possesses interpersonal skills to communicate with other department members.

Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; and to work in a diverse and changing environment.

Collaborates well in both one-on-one and teamwork settings.

Basic security knowledge (at least one core security class)

Understanding of security risk assessments, cybersecurity penetration testing and security monitoring.

Basic understanding of IT Security Risk.

Basic knowledge of security compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, HI-TRUST, etc.)

Basic networking knowledge.

Basic operating system knowledge: Windows, Linux, Solaris, OS X

The desire to learn about new security concepts and techniques.
