JOB REQUIREMENTS: Duties This position is located at the Clement J.
Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (). Milwaukee is
located in southeastern Wisconsin, about 90 minutes from Chicago, IL and
Madison, WI. Milwaukee is on the shores of Lake Michigan, the fifth
largest lake in the world where Summerfest, the worlds largest music
festival and many ethnic festivals take place throughout the summer.

package: The Infection Preventionist demonstrates competency,
proficiency, and a high level of clinical knowledge, leadership, and
skills necessary to promote evidence-based infection control practice,
aligning with the annual Infection Control Plan and infection control
policies.Identifies learning needs through a variety of methods,
including educational/competency needs assessments, professional
standards, VA directives, nursing management requests, and causal
analysis recommendations. When guiding practice, conducts a systematic
review of evidence-based literature and reviews professional standards
(guidelines) including CDC, APIC, OSHA, VHA, AORN, etc. Communicates
effectively, facilitates team building, and models behaviors that
reflect continued personal and professional growth; identifies own
learning needs and learning needs of others, especially as new standards
are introduced.Integrates ethical principles in all aspects of practice.
Serves on the Infection Control Council, other committees, and
workgroups where an infection prevention and control perspective is
needed or requested; can include occasional event-based consultation
such as outbreak analysis, assistance with complex treatment planning,
or critical event management. Able to convert, interpret, and support
infection control related standards into practice through consultation
with frontline staff, policy and development. Analyzes surveillance data
utilizing internal and external (if appropriate) benchmarks; performs
systematic data collection and analysis; creates and presents reports
